Health Services

Beijing Foreign Studies University has its own hospital and medical services for students on campus. Furthermore, several big hospitals are located in close proximity to BFSU-SolBridge campus. If a student requires medical attention, BFSU-SolBridge staff will assist with translation and ensure each student receives the best available care.


Fitness

Besides a sports field with running track, tennis courts and basketball courts, a fully equipped gymnasium is also available to students. Beijing Foreign Studies University Gymnasium covers 7600 square meters and is a comprehensive, multi - functional gymnasium, equipped with swimming pools, sports hall, cardio and weight training facilities, and a chess and card room. Students are also welcome to relax at the leisure bar and coffee shops, or pick up some sports equipment in the merchandise department.

The gymnasium has two indoor swimming pools, both filled with natural hot springs geothermal water. Changing rooms are easily accessible from the swimming pools and are equiped with secure lockers and hot showers.

Membership fees for the gymnasium vary according to the selected facilities and period of membership.

The following information is intended to facilitate your arrival in Beijing and help you settle in on our campus. Please read it carefully and plan your schedule accordingly.

1. Arrival in Beijing: Beijing International Airport

a. BFSU representatives will meet all new students at Beijing International Airport Terminal 3, Exit B to assist you with transportation to campus. In order to make use of this service, students should arrive on the following dates:

3th September: 09:00 - 19:00;

4th September: 09:00 - 14:00

On 3th September, the school bus will leave the airport at 10:30; 14:00; and 19:00.

On 4th September, the school bus will leave the airport at 10:30; and 14:00.

(The University representative will be holding a BFSU sign at the customs gate of Terminal 3. Please inform us of your flight details and arrival date in advance.)

b. If your arrival date and time does not correspond with any of the preceding dates, you may choose one of the following options:

1) You may take the airport shuttle bus - line 4. Shuttle bus price varies from CNY 15 TO CNY 24 depending on the distance. Take the bus to Gong Zhu Fen and get off at the Beijing TV Station (Beijing Dianshi Tai). The price is CNY24. This stop is only 200m away from the BFSU campus. If you are not confident in your Chinese speaking skills, or you have a lot of luggage, this may not be the option for you.

2) Follow the signs in the airport that read Taxi(level B1) to the official Taxi Stand. You may print out the University address and show it to the driver (taxi drivers seldom speak English). All taxi fares are calculated and displayed by electronic meter and it will cost about CNY 150 to take a taxi from the airport to BFSU. Remember to ask for the receipt (fa piao) to verify the bill. Do not accept a ride from strangers, or unmarked taxis- only take a taxi at the taxi stand.

* The physical examination is required for all X visa (student visa) applicants. Please remember to bring your original Physical Examination Records and relevant documents with you to Beijing (copies of original documents will not be accepted).

3. Accommodation

a. Due to a shortage of dormitory rooms, we only accept room reservations with check-in dates starting from 27th September, 2014. If you arrive before the check-in date, we may not be able to provide you with a room. Please be noted that if you arrival date is during 27th August and 2 September, room fee will be charge as short-term students, which is higher than long-term student standard.

b. If you reserved a room on campus at BFSU, you may proceed to your allocated dormitory upon arrival:

Guojiao Building on East Campus; The White building, Building 6, and Building 7 on West Campus.When checking into your room, CNY 400 needs to be paid as deposit.

c. If you live off-campus, you need to complete a Temporary Residence Form at the local police station within 24 hours after your arrival. Your landlord will need to assist you with this process. Students who live off campus must provide a legal residence certificate in order to register at BFSU.

d If you choose to move out of the campus dormitory before the end of the semester, your accommodation fees will be calculated according to the short term lodger fee schedule.

4. Visa

a. According to Chinese law, students holding an X1 visa must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entry into China; it will cost about CNY 500 to get a one year residency permit. Not adhering to this regulaion may result in beijing fined CNY500 per day, with a maximum amount of CNY 20000, or being deported for illegal residence. Students with an X1 visa should contact the Overseas Students Affairs Office upon arrival in Beijing to conduct the Residence Permit application immediately.

b. All students holding an X1 visa must get a physical examination. If you cannot have the examination done before leaving your home country, you may have it done in Beijing. The cost is about CNY 400. Any physical examination is only valid for 6 months. Your physical examination and laboratory test results must be notarized. When you arrive at BFSU you must go to the hospital to have your physical examination results verified. If all documents are in order, the fee will be CNY 60.

This process must be completed in order for the police to change your visa.

c. If you hold an X2 visa and need to have it extended before the end of your studies the applicable fees will range from CNY 260 to CNY 1,056.

5. Payment and Refund Policy

a. Tuition fees and other expenses may be paid by electronic bank transfer before arriving in China. Please keep the transfer receipt and bring it to China with you as proof of payment. Fees may also be paid in cash (Chinese Yuan) upon registration, but all fees must be settled before students are allowed to commence their studies. Students enrolled for a degree course need to pay tuition fees for the full academic year at registration.

b. According to University refund policy, 80% of paid tuition fees will be refunded to students who terminate their studies within two weeks after registration. No refunds will be awarded to students who terminate their studies after TWO weeks from the first day of registration.

6. Medical Insurance:

All foreign students who study in China for one or more semester should purchase Medical and Accidental Insurance. Insurance can be purchased from China Pingan Insurance Company upon registration (the fee is CNY 300 for one semester, or CNY 600 for the whole year). Students without medical insurance can not be enrolled as international students at BFSU.
